Sirius A Hitchhiking Race 2026

Get ready for an adventure like no other! On January 30th 7:00, 2026, Sirius A will set off on its first Hitchhiking Race from Groningen central station organized by Armstrong; a two-day journey where you and your bestie can compete with your fellow Sirius A members to reach Bruges first. At Bruges there is accommodation for you to spend the night. The final destination will be in front of the restaurant ‘t Putje where Lance Armstrong once had dinner!

The next day you have a full day in Bruges where you can explore and have fun! By 19:00 on Saturday you leave Bruges to be back in Groningen by midnight. For the race we provide a packing list, car bingo!!, suspicious white van (Armstrong support car on the road in case you get stuck), BHV won’t be present at all times, but of course you can reach the armstrong support team by phone.

For safety you must be in teams of 2, you can go with 3 if you really want to, but you will get less hitchhiking opportunities. Sign ups are individual so make sure every member signs up. Due to safety concerns we highly recommend each team consisting of at least one man. - Participation fee: around 60 euros
- Support team: committee members will monitor live locations, be available at all times for any questions and maintain regular contact for safety.
- Media: Participants are encouraged to take plenty of **photos and videos** to capture the adventure! 📸🎥
