MindGuard Student Mental Wellbeing Training
Have you ever felt overwhelmed by your studies, unsure where to turn for support, or wanted to help a friend who was struggling but didn't know how? Many university students experience stress, pressure, and wellbeing challenges during their university journey, yet it is not always easy to know what support is available or how to access it.
As part of the Erasmus+ MindGuard mental wellbeing project at the Centre for Teaching and Learning at the Faculty of Science and Engineering, we are offering a one-day free training programme (6 hours) on mental wellbeing prevention designed specifically for university students (between 1 August 2026 and 31 January 2027).
Through interactive and practical sessions, you will learn how to recognise signs of stress and emotional difficulties, build resilience, develop healthy coping strategies, support your peers, and better understand the mental wellbeing resources and support services available within the university. The training also aims to strengthen peer support networks and help create a more supportive and connected student community.
The training will be delivered in small groups of 6-8 participants, providing plenty of opportunity for discussion and the exchange of experiences. Places are limited and will be allocated on a first-come, first-served basis. If you are interested in participating, we encourage you to register your interest using this link (https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLScRZq15X_85o6H_ED6eratFVeJAimeciOORZna2B2_IIaTmmA/viewform) Training dates will be confirmed and shared with registered participants at a later stage.
We look forward to welcoming you!
With best regards, The MindGuard Team, Centre for Learning and Teaching (CLT), Faculty of Science and Engineering
Science, Business & Policy Conference
The Science, Business & Policy (SBP) master track is part of the curriculum offered to astronomy students, as a second-year interdisciplinary track at the Faculty of Science and Engineering. The upcoming SBP Conference offers a valuable opportunity for you to see what an SBP year actually looks like in practice, and to meet students who chose this track.
The 23rd annual SBP Conference will take place from 1 to 3 July 2026 in the Energy Academy on Zernike. During the conference, our 50 students will present the results of their internship projects at companies, government bodies, and NGOs. The full programme is available on our conference website (https://sites.google.com/rug.nl/sbpconference2026/home)
This conference can be interesting to you in two ways: The presentations themselves give a clear picture of the kinds of projects SBP students work on, which can help current students decide whether the track suits their interests. The Network Market on the second day of the conference (2 July, see below) is an informal setting where members can talk directly with current SBP students, alumni and partner organisations.
Network Market – 2 July, 15:00–17:00, Atrium of the Energy Academy, Zernike
At the Network Market, your members can meet: - SBP students who are about to graduate and are looking to start their careers. - SBP alumni that work at companies offering internships. - New SBP students (starting in September) who are looking for internship opportunities starting in January/February. - Companies and other knowledge-intensive organisations active in the SBP network.
